KMI proudly sponsored CUBO (Corean Undergraduate Business Organization) monthly CUBOxTED Talk events. CUBO is an undergraduate Korean organization offering career networking, social, and mentoring resources for Korean students at GW interested in business. Starting September 2017, CUBO and KISO (Korean International Studies Organization) hosted a monthly lecture where renowned speakers share experiences in a TED Talk fashion. The September event speaker was Heenam Choi, Deputy Minister for International Affairs of the Ministry of Strategy and Finance, formerly with the IMF. The event was conducted in Korean. More details: cuboxtedtalk.eventbrite.com --- Full Recap --- On Friday, September 15, 2017, the Korean Management Institute (KMI) at GWSB sponsored the monthly CUBOxKISO Lecture Series, launched with huge interest. The event drew 50+ students from The George Washington University, Georgetown University, and Johns Hopkins SAIS (School of Advanced International Studies). The lecture was delivered by Heenam Choi, Deputy Minister for International Affairs of the Ministry of Strategy and Finance (formerly with the IMF). The program began with CUBO's (Corean Undergraduate Business Organization) 2017-2018 General Body Meeting. Executive board members introduced CUBO's upcoming programs: Job Hunting, CuboME, Case Study Group, Marketing Competition, CUBOxTED, and CPA/CFA Study Group. Dr. Choi shared valuable experience working at the World Bank and International Monetary Fund. During Q&A, one graduate student from SAIS asked about the World Bank's position on China's AIIB (Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank), the counterpart of the World Bank's ADB (Asia Development Bank). Uncertain of AIIB's objectives, the Bank observed its behaviors closely in the beginning, Dr. Choi said; now they consider one another a strong partner whose synergy can be optimally beneficial for developing countries in Asia. The lecture ended with a group photo. CUBO, with KISO, prepared another CUBOxTED talk later in the semester.
