Some ideas reach a moment when they are ready to become movements.
Following our work at the United States Congress and the 71st ICSB World Congress in Washington, D.C., Dr. Ki-Chan Kim and I are considering the launch of the first-ever Human-Centered Entrepreneurship (HCE) Summit. What we witnessed in Washington was clear. At a time of extraordinary technological change, artificial intelligence, and economic uncertainty, the conversation about entrepreneurship is returning to where it belongs: to people.
Over nearly a decade, Human-Centered Entrepreneurship has grown from an idea into a global framework connecting research, education, business, and public policy. This year, the HCE Index gave that framework a measurable foundation. Covering 43 economies, the Index shows how countries combine entrepreneurial dynamism with human well-being, dignity, and opportunity. Some of what it reveals is surprising. The economies that score highest are not always the largest or the wealthiest, but the ones that treat their entrepreneurs as people first.
We believe the time is right to bring this growing global community together. The first HCE Summit would gather researchers, entrepreneurs, policymakers, educators, and global leaders committed to advancing new research, examining what the HCE Index is telling us, shaping policy, and building a future in which innovation and economic progress remain fundamentally human.
And where better to begin the next chapter than where so much of the HCE journey began? Dr. Kim and I are looking to South Korea as the home for the first HCE Summit. As we approach a decade of this work, this is the moment to bring the global HCE community together. To reflect on how far we have come. To explore what the Index is revealing. And to define an ambitious vision for the next decade of Human-Centered Entrepreneurship.
