About the Showcase
On February 7, 2025, the GW Korean Management Institute proudly hosted the GW KMI x Hyundai Motors Joint Session on Social Entrepreneurship. This exciting event brought together innovative young social entrepreneurs and esteemed delegates from Hyundai Motor Company’s social venture arm, Hyundai Motor Chung Mong-Koo Foundation, creating an enriching platform for the exchange of ideas. With the dedicated efforts and leadership of Dr. Ayman El Tarabishy, along with our colleagues’ support, the session laid the groundwork for insightful discussions and forward-thinking collaborations.
Throughout the day, attendees were treated to a series of engaging presentations and campus activities. Dr. YoungKi Park from GWSB Information Systems & Technology Management delivered an insightful lecture on Industry 4.0 that captivated both our students and the Hyundai delegation. His perspectives, honed by his role as an Associate Editor of MIS Quarterly, sparked meaningful dialogue on the integration of technology and sustainable business practices. In addition, the research paper presentation on Social Entrepreneurship by Dr. Jungho Suh of the Management Department—focusing on tackling ESG backlash and driving sustainability—further deepened the discourse and highlighted the innovative approaches emerging from our academic community. Dr. Suh’s presentation led up to Dr. Tarabishy’s keynote on Social Innovation and its application in dynamic markets
We extend our heartfelt thanks to everyone who contributed to the success of the event. Special acknowledgments go to Assistant Dean Joseph A. Miranda and the GWSB Operations Team for their unwavering support, as well as to our GW Presidential Fellows—Markella Lanara, Nina, and Jack—for their exceptional guidance during the campus tour. We also appreciate the efforts of Secretary-General John Choi, his team, and Hyundai Motor Company for their commitment to fostering bright and passionate social entrepreneurs. With such a dynamic exchange of ideas, we look forward to future collaborations that continue to build on this strong partnership.
